Grants

The Fellowship administers a number of funds from which grants are awarded to groups and/or individuals. In order for projects to be suitable for the Fellowship to support financially they must generally agree with our aims and objectives. In particular, applicants must demonstrate in their application that their project:

1. will in some way promote contact between Orthodox and Western Christians.

2. has an ecumenical dimension.

3. has the support of the local church hierarchy or other suitable referee.

Past funded projects have included conferences, publishing projects, short research or exchange visits and pump-priming grants to allow the establishment of libraries and church educational institutions.Since autumn 2006, the Fellowship has become a partner in the OTEP (Oxford Theological Exchange Programme) scheme of the Faculty of Theology in the University of Oxford. All of our grant making for study scholarships is conducted through this scheme. We do not offer alternative study scholarships for students.

In general, applications are made for funding from the Zernov Fund, founded in memory of Nicholas and Militza Zernov, two of the leading founders of the Fellowship. Applications, which should be made using the designated form (see below), are considered at several meetings each year by the trustees. Grant application forms are available in the following formats:

In addition to the Zernov Fund, the General Secretary of the Fellowship also administers several travel funds, which exist to provide small grants (usually not exceeding GB£300) to individuals wishing to travel to study the life of either one of the Eastern or Western Christian Churches. Applications are considered throughout the year. Further details may be obtained from the Fellowship office. Full postal details and e-mail address can be found at the bottom of this page.

Please note: The Fellowship does not offer scholarships for students, apart from in collaboration with other trusts.
